A Dixon area teacher has been named VFW Post 9983 High School Teacher of the Year. Dixon High School Social Studies teacher Isabel Russell was honored for her extraordinary teaching and mentoring ability. Mrs. Russell was also recognized for ensuring her students develop knowledge of the world around them and encouraging curiosity in historical study.
National winners will receive a $1000 award to further their education. Their schools will also receive a $1000 award.
